Many customers ask if the N39plus is restricted to AT&T, or if it supports other major carriers like Verizon and T-Mobile.
The short answer is: No, it is not locked to AT&T. It supports all major networks!
Here is a simple breakdown of how your radio's network connection actually works, along with a list of supported carriers in North America.
Your N39plus uses a Smart VHAM Data SIM (a multi-carrier virtual network service). Instead of being locked to a single provider, the radio constantly evaluates your current location—whether you are in a dense city, a small town, or a rural area—and automatically connects to the strongest available network.
When Stationary: Under normal communication conditions, the radio locks onto the best local network and stays there to ensure a stable connection.
When Driving/Traveling: If you drive across different cities or regions, the radio will automatically switch to the optimal carrier or frequency band to maintain the best call quality. (Note: During this transition, the radio may briefly refresh its connection to lock onto the new, stronger tower).
You do not need to configure these settings yourself—the radio handles it automatically. However, for reference, here are the networks and bands your N39plus supports:

Introduction: The N39plus is an unlocked device. While it comes with a Talkpod VHAM SIM card pre-installed for your convenience, you are completely free to use your own data SIM card, including those from other platforms (like Global PTT) or local cellular providers. Here is how to access the SIM card slot and install your new card properly.
⚠️ Important Note on Third-Party SIM Compatibility: Before inserting a third-party SIM card, please verify your data plan type with your cellular provider:
Unrestricted Data SIMs (Recommended): If your SIM card provides standard, unrestricted internet access to all open IPs (like a regular smartphone data plan), it is fully compatible and will work seamlessly with the VHAM platform.
Restricted or "IoT" Data SIMs: If you are using a specialized directional data plan (where traffic is restricted or whitelisted to specific servers only), you must contact your SIM provider to ensure that VHAM's servers and IPs are allowed on your plan. If VHAM is blocked by your SIM provider's firewall, the radio will display a network signal but fail to log into the communication group.
Step-by-Step Installation Guide:
Power Off: Ensure your radio is completely turned off before removing the battery.
Remove the Battery: Unclip the battery latch at the back of the radio and slide the battery downward to remove it.
Locate the SIM Slot: Underneath the battery compartment, you will see a metal SIM card tray. The N39plus uses a Nano SIM (the smallest size, same as modern smartphones).
Unlock the Tray: Gently slide the metal bracket in the direction of the "Open" arrow (usually downward or to the left) and lift the flap up.
Insert the SIM: Place your Nano SIM card into the slot, making sure the gold contacts are facing down and the angled corner matches the shape of the tray.
Lock the Tray: Close the metal flap and slide it in the direction of the "Lock" arrow to secure the SIM card in place.
Reboot & Connect: Reattach the battery, power on the radio, and wait 2-3 minutes. The N39plus will automatically detect the new network and connect.
